Mrs. Hall and I were talking this evening about that desire to be in the presence of God. I felt like God wanted me to share this with you guys. Every believer should know what be in the presence of God feels like. Its overwhelming in a GREAT way. You have that feeling and your on top of the world, content with everything because of Jesus....BUT what happens??? That feeling goes away, sometimes it comes, but it doesnt last, WHY??
Guys being in the presence of God is like a fire. God uses an event, worship song, sermon message, or some event to light that fire. But that like a real fire can go out if we dont stoke the fire, frequently. Also, we have to keep adding wood to our fire, to keep it burning. In order to stay in the presence of God (even though Satan is using everything he can), we must add wood to our fire..Adding wood consists of scripture study (not just reading to read), church and other events, friends that help you grow, prayer, worship music, and other things.. Its like basketball. Are we going to be any good at it if we dont practice? NO Are we going to be in God's presence if we dont do some intentionally? NO
Some questions to ponder...
1) Are you guys adding wood to the fire God has lit in you and doing so purposefully?
2) Are you practicing doing God's deeds as you do other stuff like basketball?
3) Are you putting stuff in your fire that will put it out? (negative friends, events, music and other entertainment, etc)
Not everyone has the desire to be in a relationship with Christ. And unfortunately many of us that do, dont have a desire to be in the presence of God! DO YOU???
